I bought this for my 2000 VW Jetta that specs 5W-40, ACEA A3/B4, or VW 502.00. This covers all. So far my car has been running smoothly and I noticed that it has less noise at all RPM range than the SuperTech 10W-40 I had in it, which was also made by WPP (maker of Mag1). I plan to keep this for 10k miles OCI, which to me is 6 months. The nice thing about this oil other than the price (vs. $50 for Mobil 1 0W-40, Pennzoil Ultra 5W-40, and German Castrol 0W-30) is that it's a thin 5W-40 with only 12.95 cSt at 100C. Other oils in the same grade around 13.5. This is almost as thin as German Castrol which is 12.2 cSt.

You can not beat the price and quality of MAG1 oils. Compare this to Mobil 1.

Works great in my diesel, helps cold weather start ups. I am a huge fan on MAG1.

I'm new to synthetic oils but now that I've purchased a few "new to me" VW and Audi with 1.8L Turbo engines I have to run full synthetic to help prevent sludging. One of the cars I bought actually had a plugged oil pickup tube when I got it, there was massive coke build up (AKA: sludge).

I did a little internet research on synthetics, Mobile one of course is the most popular and is approved for the VW Audi engines and it's about the same price if not even cheaper at Costco or Walmart, if you don't consider your time going to Costco/Walmart as valuable; it's an hour + trip and a nightmare so that adds considerably to my "cost factor". I also read a lot that Mobile one tends to consume fairly quickly and in these 1.8t engines with only 3.7 quart capacity you have to stay on top of it to ensure you don't run low on oil. Several of these 1.8t VW Audi engines made around the year 2000 had a design flaw in that the oil pan sits over the lower subframe; therefore the oil pan is very shallow at on end reducing the capacity. Considering these are Turbo engines, the oil is worked pretty hard and starting a such a low capacity, if you lose/consume some oil (VW Audi tolerances allow for up to 1QT/1,000 miles as I recall, I could be wrong on that). Keep in mind with Oil change intervals over 5,000 miles if you are not checking your oil regularly you will quickly be running on low oil conditions which is even harder on the oil causing it to breakdown even sooner.

From what I've read, MAG1 is produced by a reputable company who also makes Walmart's house branded synthetic; I don't know that these are and identical blend but… I read from multiple sources that MAG1 is a quality product which can fairly be compared to Mobile 1, not saying it is exactly equal or better but at least in the same league.

I also read about zinc content which I believe helped with cooling and is said to be fairly high (a bonus) in the MAG1 oil.

I'm clearly not an oil expert but I understand the basics and I can say that I did over an hour of reading relevant to MAG1, it's manufacturer, and perspectives of people who are recognized as lubrication experts and I came away with a feeling that MAG1 was a good performing Lubricant that meets or exceeds the requirements set by VW Audi, maybe not to lowest price but definitely competitive with PRIME shipping which I have.

I purchased a few cases and have been satisfied so far. And again, factoring in the delivery to my door with PRIME, I feel the cost is equal or better than other options that I would have to go to the store in order to get a lower cost.

Just have this oil in my VW GTI.. Seems to be good together with Liqui Moly Anti Friction treatment.

Not sure whether Mag1 is good or Liqui Moly treatment was good.

It just served its purpose!

I notice everytime i change engine oil, my fuel consumption was bad.. maybe its just me.
