This worked great, got the filter off my IS right away. It did stick to the filter housing, but a few taps w/ a hammer and it came right off.

This is a necessity for changing the oil in my Forester, where the filter is recessed deep in a hole such that it is very difficult to grip cleanly with other wrenches (e.g. strap wrench). I can't believe I didn't buy this sooner. Not sure if it fits the current Subaru-branded filters, because they occasionally change the casing size. The tool seems well-made.

I struggled and strained with removing the oil filter from my Prius using conventional tools without success. This tool made the job almost easy. Well-made and perfectly-sized it has become my toolbox friend.
