I purchased this product as opposed to the $24 assenmacher filter wrench because I'm poor and owning a 99 s80 only makes me poorer. I had no problem getting the filter off with this tool. It doesn't seem flimsy or anything. Perhaps the people who claim it "strips" don't understand that they shouldn't go all Bignuts on a filter cap and torque it down stronger than excalibur? Anyway, this thing worked just fine for me and allowed me to save $20 to put towards the next thing that breaks on this volvo.

The metal piece that the ratchet goes into is only pressed into the main housing. Sheared right off and came apart after using it the first time.

Despite the fact that the manufacturer never cross references it for BMW, it is the right one for my 2008 E90 335i. There's no reason to pay more for the other brands that Amazon carries. It's cheap and it works.
