Overall Impression:

I use this on a variety of pistols (.45 STI, Kimber, Glock, and a .22 Browning), as well as my 12 guage and rifle. Holds up well with dirty range ammo, stays put when left in the gun safe for less-used guns like my shotgun. I have been using Lucas off and on for a while and it's a solid product.

Characteristics:

Lucas gun oil is red tinted and tackyit almost feels like liquid nylon tape. If you place a drop on the guide rod or other flat surface, it will trickle down. Slower than a standard oil, but certainly not like a grease. A lot of 1911's like to run "wet" (with a lot of oil), especially a tight-fitting custom pistol. If left in the safe for an extended period, this oil will "pool" from excess application, but the oil does not dry out quickly and a lot of oil seems to stay in place.

Pros:

Reasonably priced for a high-performance gun lubricant, and it's a good American company based in the US (Indiana now adays).

Cons:

Can be tough to find if you're not an Amazon shopper! Applicator tip is thick enough to prevent precision placement in a few instances.

It doesn't get gummy like some oils do. Reminds me of Marvel Mystery Oil, even smells like it. Well back in the day I used MMO on every thing, guns, air tools, outdoor hinges, even oil bath air cleaners.

I must admit, I had mixed feelings at first since I was a RemOil and CLP guy, but after talking to a friend, I thought that I would pick this up. I am glad I did! This stuff is the best oil/CLP I have ever tried! I was a little leery about red tint, but it wipes clean! I use this stuff on my weapons and other metallic surfaces. I was surprised at how well it shines chrome and steel! Very nice product! Remember, a little bit goes a long way!

Great gun oil you don't need much and there is no smell or build up. Long lasting wile shooting.I would recommend this over other gun oils.

Air cooled Harleys have a tough time in hot weather. I live in south Ga. I changed my oil a year ago and put 3600 miles on it. Just changed again and the old oil still looked good. Abit expensive at 12.50 a qt. but well worth it, I would have changed oil twice over that period with Harley's synthetic at $8 something.

The gold bottle Titanium Edge is one of the finest synthetic motor oils I have ever used. The product keeps the engine temps lower on average than does Mobil-1 by a tiny margin, and is better than Pennzoil Platinum (didn't test Ultra yet) by a larger temp margin. After 5k miles, there is nearly NO darkening of oil. Mobil-1 has tiny darkening, and Pennzoil Platinum, somewhat more so. Before "Titanium" came along, the best formula was the gold bottle "Edge" but made in Germany; this new formula is made in USA (maybe from spilled Louisiana crude doh!) and may be even better yet. A few years ago, it seemed that Castrol brand synthetics were nearly unaffordable. But after "the spill", the price of Castrol oils has dropped versus other popular brands. While it lasts, you should grab a few cases of Castrol Edge Synthetic with Titanium 5w-30. Your engine will thank you 300,000 miles later, as does my '89 Jeep 6-cylinder that still runs like new, always running synthetics by Mobil, Castrol, Valvoline, and Pennzoil.

Great product that is actually recommended by Volvo. This is the only oil my new Volvo will ever use!! I have used Castrol in all of my vehicles for at least 40 years and have never had a problem with Castrol!! Castrol is simply the best engineered oil on the market.
