This is a well made oil filter wrench that I use for my Toyota Tacoma. It does grip well and assists in turning the filter to remove it.

The drawback that I have with it is that it is VERY difficult to remove the oil filter from the wrench once you have removed the filter from the vehicle.

I have drilled a hole through the nipple part of the wrench where the socket wrench handle goes and now I can stick a long nail through there. That gives me something to hang on to when trying to hammer the old filter out of the wrench. I had considered throwing the wrench in the garbage because of that difficulty, but once the hole was drilled so that I had something to hold onto when removing the old filter, I decided to keep it.

If this wrench had been designed with some way to remove the filter from it, it would have really been a winner.

Honest reviews on Assenmacher Specialty Tools TOY 730 73mm Oil Filter Wrench

I bought this for our 1997 4Runner. I had been using a metal one for years that didn't quite fit. Finally I got sick of that and I tried NAPA and a bunch of other places and couldn't find one that fit snugly. Then I came to Amazon. This thing is great. It fits like a glove and it's worth every penny.

I will agree with the one review that it can get a bit too tight. I was playing with it on a new filter that was not on the car. Somehow it got on there just right and really snapped into place. I had to pop the filter out with a big piece of round bar stock from the hole the socket wrench goes in. I didn't damage it, but doing so put a little dent in the top and I didn't want to take a chance of it failing. I've used it on several oil changes and have never encountered that problem while actually using it on the vehicle.

The metal seems thick and I doubt the thing will ever wear out. On the 4Runner it fit such that I could use it to take the filter off from the top of the engine vs. reaching up from the bottom which was nice (it worked equally well from the bottom too). If you're familiar with them that will make sense.

It's just a great little product.

I was lucky enough to buy a black leather jacket, kind of like a leather sweater, big enough to be a top layer if I'm wearing bulky clothing and so comfortable, for nine bucks at Goodwill. The first wearing was to a hometown football game where I paid particular attention to it because of on and off light rain. Then I noticed this fine old leather was looking a bit dry so off I went to the local Tractor Supply that is, after doing substantial research online since I don't know enough about preserving leather.

So I learned to be wary of products that might contain petroleum distillates as their long-term effect is counter-productive: they may actually cause the eventual break-down of the skin. Then there is the potential of certain additives to rot stitching...

Here we have pure neatsfoot, got from bovines. I don't know for sure the source of my leather jacket but it is probably also bovine. At any rate, pure neatsfoot is recommended. And you should see how excellent my jacket now looks. It was quite a job to carefully apply a couple of coats (too much is not recommended so I hope I guessed right about the needs of the hide). The jacket got heavier but oh so luxurious. I get comments from strangers in the grocery line and have to shrink away to keep them from pawing my prize jacket!

I bought this after my brother-in-law told me it is what his dad used on his baseball mitt when he was a kid. He said the mitt is still supple (he's in his 40s.) I use it on my boots/ shoes/ jackets. It helps break in the new ones faster and with less pain involved. Also, if you don't take care of your leather shoes and jackets, they dry out and crack/ dry rot. This oil doesn't leave an oily residue, doesn't transfer once you let it soak in about 5 minutes. Love it!

I used this on several pairs of leather shoes and found it generally brough life back into dry leather and made all leather more pliable. I did not think the oil had any stank, just a general oily smell. A little bit of the stuff goes a long way, so even a 16 oz container will last quite some time. I recommend for softening and renewing leather, if you want to waterproof, use Sno-Seal.

MANY PEOPLE HAVE FAVORITE THINGS IN THEIR LIFE THEY JUST HAVE TO KEEP.

I have many such inert fellow-travelers (six cities, 15 jobs, 40-some years, so far) I'm into my 70's now. I have a leather couch with chrome supports. All made from one huge piece of quality leather. I expect it will outlast me. It just pleases me so to see it, have seen it through my many years.

I bought it in the mid-60's. Six-feet-plus, it cost $700. Back when it hit two years I started thinking about keeping it up, researching ways to preserve it. Then, as now, neatsfoot oil was called for. And so started my spring ritual of rubbing neatsfoot oil on every leather surface. Friends passing through to a person asked me to either sell it to them or leave it to them in m'will. Such always makes me smile and remember how that couch has been an element of my life. Fireplace, candles, music and lolling with a lady friend on m'couch. Glowing memories.

Few Americans have heard of Wabi-Sabi. Accept my words or study up on this Japanese philosophy. There are a variety of books on it; this one fit me: Wabi-Sabi: for Artists, Designers, Poets & Philosophers It's about how the patina of age endows an elegance to things which increases, venerates their value value in worth, quality and feelings of their owners. It appreciates age and careful wear, quality that survived ages.

For me mine's a sentimental couch. And cool leather motorcycle jackets, cowboy boots and belts et al; all have been with me for decades. All have been treated yearly with neatsfoot oil. All glow with their histories, obvious cared-for quality.

Most all these neatsfoot products say 'pure'; they probably are. Hope so. So go with your gut; price shop and/or just sense if a seller is saying the truth. But neatsfoot oil sure has worked for me. It'll will for you.

This product is 100% neatsfoot oil. It does not contain silicone or any solvents. It is non-toxic and will not irritate skin.

Neatsfoot does have an oder however it usually fades after a couple of days. It will most likely initially darken any leather where it is applied however this can also fade with time. It is best to make sure the effect is what you desire by testing it on a hidden patch first.

If the Neatsfoot oil is applied to split hide leather with a machine finish it can sit on the surface for some time so it is best to do a bit of research on the leather you are intending to condition. Suede, nubuck and other leathers with a napped or natural finish will absorb the oil quickly so it will probably have an undesired effect; over darkening the leather and leaving too much oil in small areas. Again, be sure to test any conditioner in a small unseen area or on a patch first.

The oil traditionally was made from the bones, skin and feet of cows but unlike other fat remains in a liquid state at room temperature however modern Neatsfoot is usually made from lard that has been pressed. I don't know the process Fiebings uses to make their Neatsfoot however I have found the brand to be high quality with the desired effect for many years.

If you are looking for a high quality neatsfoot oil then this is it.

My experience by no means is a proven scientific method of analysis, but the trend I have experienced with Fram filters has been one of reliability. I used Fram on everything from motorcycles, ATVs, cars and my 4x4 trucks. Not one has shown any indication of failure. My truck with over 300K miles is well within its compression window and doesn't blow the least bit of smoke. My motorcycle has over 50K miles and it too doesn't show any appreciable wear.

Does that mean Fram is flawless? Nothing is, but I changed 1000s of engine oil for myself and 100s of friends over 30yrs. I am presently using this 6017A series on a Polaris ATV which is exposed to extreme conditions in the Florida swamps with much success.

Maybe Fram fails easier than others when you push the envelope with going long on an oil change interval. Since I change oil religiously, I may never know what the failure point of a Fram filter is, and I am certainly not interested in finding out the hard way.

I trust Fram as good balance between quality, reliability and cost.

I am tired of hearing about how bad FRAM filters are for you motorcycle. They are one of the few aftermarket brands that make filters specifically designed for motorcycles. Motorcycles typically need a much higher flow rate of oil so using filters that are too restrictive can seriously damage your bike's engine. They got a bad reputation because many years ago as they did have poor quality but now I would consider them one of the best. I have bought FRAM filters from both Amazon and Oil Filters Online for my bikes and couldn't be happier. Do yourself (and your wallet) a favor and give FRAM a try.

I've *only* been using the Canadian-manufactured Fram PH6017A oil filters on my 2001 Honda Shadow Sabre 1100cc motorcycle since the day I purchased it new and it now has 85,000 miles and is still ticking just fine. Course, I did the scheduled oil changes every 3000 miles religiously, have used semi-synthetic oils as well as diesel-rated mineral oils (more zinc). I don't ride like a maniac so I'm not torturing the engine or anything like that, but I do ride agressively.

Is that proof enough that this filter is one of the best for the application out there or what ???????!!!
