Reviews of Wix 51040 Spin-On Oil Filter, Pack of 1

Customer Ratings:

I was in the automotive field most of my life. My family started an automotive retail/wholesale business in California when I was five years old. I stayed in it until age forty-five. Upon my retirement, along with my brother and brother-in-law, I have seen and sold most all the brands of filters available. Other than maybe some extravagent custom filter with a price to go with it, I learned from test and my own use that Wix has a great quality product that you can be assured that you are getting every cent of value that you deserve for your large investment that you drive. Thanks, for reading my review. Bruce Farrell (age 67)Wix 51356 Spin-On Oil Filter, Pack of 1Wix 51356 Spin-On Oil Filter, Pack of 1

WIX filters are one of the best values out there, in my opinion. My mechanic swears by them can't beat the performance & quality, esp. at this price point. If you change your own oil, this is the way to go.

What is there to say? It fits, it's made by Wix, and you can't ask much more than that. I used to purchase NAPA Gold filters, but the NAPA store near me closed. I found out that NAPA Gold filters are made by Wix, so I just made the switch to Wix.

My husband only uses this oil on our cars. Sometimes it is difficult to find in stores or out of stock. We were pleased to find it on line (with free shipping). The oil arrived very quickly (in only a day or two). We would order again from this supplier and recommend both the product and supplier.

I use this oil in my 1990 Geo Metro. The car has used this same oil brand and grade ever since it was first broken in. I also use an Amsoil add on bypass oil filter to take out the tiny particles from the oil; which ordinary filters do not catch. The result is that, with more than 300,000 miles on the original engine, it still does not show signs of wear. And the extra wide 5W-50 viscosity range does not degrade as the miles accumulate. I am totally impressed with the performance of this oil.

I have been using this in all my cars and trucks for many years. I live where it gets very cold and also travel to Phoenix, AZ where it gets very hot (over 110 F) so I like the broader range of viscosity 5W-50. The other brands don't even make this viscosity! Not even the ultra expensive Amsoil or Royal Purple make this! Great product!

I was looking for a synthetic motor oil with added zinc for my classic 1956 Mercedes 190SL. Consider that this oil is significant thinner than your usual W30. Check all your seals. However, I can highly recommend this for your classic car. Merchant had a competitive price and shipped on time.

My experience by no means is a proven scientific method of analysis, but the trend I have experienced with Fram filters has been one of reliability. I used Fram on everything from motorcycles, ATVs, cars and my 4x4 trucks. Not one has shown any indication of failure. My truck with over 300K miles is well within its compression window and doesn't blow the least bit of smoke. My motorcycle has over 50K miles and it too doesn't show any appreciable wear.

Does that mean Fram is flawless? Nothing is, but I changed 1000s of engine oil for myself and 100s of friends over 30yrs. I am presently using this 6017A series on a Polaris ATV which is exposed to extreme conditions in the Florida swamps with much success.

Maybe Fram fails easier than others when you push the envelope with going long on an oil change interval. Since I change oil religiously, I may never know what the failure point of a Fram filter is, and I am certainly not interested in finding out the hard way.

I trust Fram as good balance between quality, reliability and cost.

I am tired of hearing about how bad FRAM filters are for you motorcycle. They are one of the few aftermarket brands that make filters specifically designed for motorcycles. Motorcycles typically need a much higher flow rate of oil so using filters that are too restrictive can seriously damage your bike's engine. They got a bad reputation because many years ago as they did have poor quality but now I would consider them one of the best. I have bought FRAM filters from both Amazon and Oil Filters Online for my bikes and couldn't be happier. Do yourself (and your wallet) a favor and give FRAM a try.

Great product! Last time I bought a while ago from a retail store, I think they were still orange, now they are black which is great. Filter works great.

I've *only* been using the Canadian-manufactured Fram PH6017A oil filters on my 2001 Honda Shadow Sabre 1100cc motorcycle since the day I purchased it new and it now has 85,000 miles and is still ticking just fine. Course, I did the scheduled oil changes every 3000 miles religiously, have used semi-synthetic oils as well as diesel-rated mineral oils (more zinc). I don't ride like a maniac so I'm not torturing the engine or anything like that, but I do ride agressively.

Is that proof enough that this filter is one of the best for the application out there or what ???????!!!
