I am a retired auto mechanic who still performs a lot of my own work. Easiest maintenance any owner can perform is an oil change. I use synthetic oil and premium filters and have always replaced the "crush" drain plug washer. I have used several different styles of washers: a stainless steel washer that is similar to spark plug washers, nylon washers, fiber washers and aluminum washers. These washers appear to be the aluminum style with a coating on each side that helps seal the drain plug and oil pan surfaces. I feel these are inexpensive insurance against drain plug leaks and replace the washer on every oil change.

Discount Genuine Toyota - Oil Drain Plug Gaskets (QTY10) - 90430-12031
I bought a pack of these on ebay for seven dollars only because the Toyota Service Manual says not to reuse the gasket each time the oil is changed, so far so good on the first one. These gaskets have an aluminum center about 1/16" thick with a thin layer of rubber on each side. These are 12mm ID x 21mm OD and will fit numerous different models.

Got the oil filter and air filter to my door cheaper than just buying the air filter anywhere in Canada. Retailers here often charge two or three times as much for the same part.

I put together a bike from ebay parts and used this filter. I've changed the oil every 4k or so miles and this filter is still keeping things clean. It can't hurt to change the oil more often than that, but that's been all that I've needed with my bike.Best Deals for K&N KN-123 Kawasaki High Performance Oil Filter
Its an oil filter. It seems to be made of quality materials, and it fits into the motorcycle perfectly. Nothing much else to say.Honest reviews on K&N KN-123 Kawasaki High Performance Oil Filter
The seal rings seal the filter nicely so there is no oil bypassing the filterunlike the emgo or generic filters. I still find crud and shavings in my filters even after 7000+ miles, and I'd bet your Kawi still makes flakes and shavings too! I don't find the shavings when I use emgo, but I do find them on the K&Nwhich is good.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for K&N KN-123 Kawasaki High Performance Oil Filter
I bought this for a 2000 Kawasaki KLR650 motorcycle. I trust K&N oil filters based on how well their air filters work, which I use in all my vehicles. I guess I can't know for sure how good the oil filter is, but it's relatively inexpensive to just go with what seems to be the best on the market.Monday, January 27, 2014
Buy Royal Purple 31530 HPS Street Synthetic Motor Oil 5W30 Pack of 6
This is hands down the best oil I have ever used. The price is steep, but the benefits are worth the money. Extended oil change intervals and a bump in MPG.I've tried various oils in my car and this is by far the best oil I've yet to run. I gained 6mpg on the freeway changing to this oil and my car feels smooth and strong like it should. I will never put any other oil in my car.
