I have a cheap Pro-Lift jack that wouldn't raise my car. I checked out the manual, and there was actually a fill hole for adding or changing the hydraulic oil under the name plate. I added some of this oil and popped back in the rubber plug. At first, it didn't seem to help, but after a few hours, I tried again, and the jack rose to its full extension and would lift my car.

I ordered this for a Craftsman jack that was leaking fluid. I figured I'd give this a shot before replacing the jack. The one time I used the jack with this fluid in it, it leaked out all over the floor. Not sure if it actually works or not. The seals in my jack may have just been beyond repair.

I used it on a 25 ton bottle jack used on my big rig that had a slow leak. After using this Jack oil and using it two or three times the leak stopped.

I own an Audi A4 (B7 model) with the 2.0T engine and I've used two of these K&N PS-7010 filters now. I was originally attracted to them by their extremely low price while simultaneously coming from a well-known manufacturer. Unfortunately, I won't be buying them anymore due to the poor performance they offer compared to OEM.

Both of the K&N's I used were installed for 5,000 miles with VW 502.00 spec oils and on both occasions they collapsed in on themselves into the shape of a corset or an hour glass. This phenomenon didn't occur with the OEM filter installed by the dealer during the first 5,000 miles I owned the car. And since these filters became as constricted as they did within 5,000 miles I would never dream of trying to push my change interval out to 10,000 miles that Audi specifies. I'll also say that I don't drive my car hard and it's completely stock. I can only imagine what might happen to this filter in modified car or once that's regularly pushed to redline.

I wish I had taken note of the part number of that filter because it was in much better condition upon removal (not quite the shape of a new filter but not nearly as constricted as the K&N). Reading around the web suggests that Audi/VW's filter is manufactured by Mann and happily Amazon does offer the Mann-Filter HU 719/6 X Metal-Free Oil Filter which fits my car. They're generally only about $1 more and just holding them in my hand they do feel better built than the K&Ns. I've ordered two of them and will give them both a 5,000 mile run with proper VW 502.00 spec oil. I'll post a review regarding their performance in the future.

As for the K&N I will say that it does look to be of superior construction in comparison to store brand filters à la Microguard. It also comes with the proper rubber gasket needed for my Audi's oil filter housing. There is also an extra gasket of a different design but I have no clue what car it may be intended for.

So to wrap things up, the K&N is not right for my car. Perhaps it would work well in a car that isn't turbo charged or offers a different displacement or different number of cylinders, but in my application I would worry about this filter restricting the oil flow or perhaps causing a bypass situation where dirty oil is allowed to circulate. Neither option is desirable. Stay tuned for my review of the Mann...

I read many reviews on many web pages about this filter but I can't tell if it is really better then OEM. However I trust K&N and so far they have not let me down. Also this is even slightly cheaper then the OEM product but supposedly superior.

One thing I need to add: this does come with a rubber seal but it isn't listed anywhere. I looked on other websites that sell it and on K&N's website but I just couldn't find anything about the seal that the OEM and other oil filter come with. However I opened the box and was happy to see there is a seal included like in all the other filters.

Filter shows the usual great quality of construction in K&N products. While looks are one thing, "the proof of the pudding is in the eating" is probably what should apply here and only time will tell as to it's filtering characteristics. I bought it because of the K&N reputation and the quality I have seen in their other products.

I have been using these in my Volvo C30 for regular filter changes (I change oil filter alone every 4,000 miles, and do Euro blend Castrol synthetic oil changes every 12,000). For the amount of time I've been wrenching, K&N products have never let me down. Their products are well built and K&N's US based product support is top notch. I've misplaced a filter seal before and they have sent a replacement to me for free.

I also subscribe to Blackstone Oil Analysis, which is a service that looks at various elements and contaminants in oil, at regular intervals, as part of my car's documented maintenance and to keep tabs on the health of my engine. Using K&N oil filters, along with good oil, I've had nothing but flying colors.

Cheap K&N PS-1002 Oil Filter

I bought this filter mainly because of the K&N brand name and because most reviews said it was a okay filter, although possibly inferior to the Toyota OEM filter (90915-YZZD3) for about the same price or cheaper! Now, I think other reviews also bought into the K&N name, but after seeing a few reviews where they cut into the filter, it shows that all oil filters have some area where they are lacking, even the ones that sell for 2X the cost of this one.

I have no way to tell if this filter is working any better or worst than any other, so I just change it often and hope that it's working as it should! Just make sure that it has a bypass valve and also a anti-drain back gasket although they differ in how they work and what material they use for these important features. I don't remember how this one stacks up to the others in regards to those two things.

One thing that you will immediately notice is the height of this filter compared to the Toyota OEM. It's much shorter, maybe about a 1/2" difference between the two, but the K&N seems to be the same height as most of the other non OEM I have used, so common among the "third party" choices.

Interesting that Amazon chose to ship the filter out of the box! Meaning that the filter was just rolling around in the shipping box with the K&N retail box folded up. I have no idea why they did that as the box was more than big enough to accommodate the other items in the box and since the K&N filter does not have any covering on the bottom, it was dusty. Now the Toyota filter has plastic covering the bottom to keep dust, dirt and other grit out of the filter (and isn't that what a filter is made to do!) Not good when that stuff is in the filter before you even install it!

My suggestion is to buy the OEM Toyota filter (90915-YZZD3) and you can get it at Amazon either as a single filter, filter with drain plug gasket, 5 pack and a full case of 10.

I have used all kinds of filters for my vehicle including the supposedly superior OEM (Mazda). K&N have turned out to be the best value. Super performance and good price. My only issue with this particular model is it leaves off the nut for torquing on/off the filter (understand because it is a performance filter the nut can cause a restriction issue) and it does not have the grit to help grasp the filter. It will be a bear to take the unit off without a wrench and even so, the under carriage screen leaves little room to get a wrench on the filter and give room to twist it. May have to take the screen off (royal pain in the *!!)

Overall super filter and price, but the lack of easy on/off costs it a star.

Beats the OEM filter by a country mile! I no longer hear that destructive oil-starved sound when starting my truck.

This is the least restrictive filter I've ever used on my pickup.

You can argue that this filter probably doesn't remove wear-causing particles as well as a more restrictive filter.

Probably true, but your engine doesn't care if the oil is slightly cleaner if that filter restricts its flow (especially when cold).

I'll be using this filter from now on, and I like to price-to-performance ratio.

With my old filters after 4000 miles old oil was completely black, with the K&N only a dark brown at 4000 miles. Been able to go longer between oil changes.

After using this Quaker State for 6,000 miles it came out of my vehicle like black coffee. I am not impressed at all especially since my vehicle hold 7 quarts and we drained just 5.5 quarts. So if you do the math my truck used 1.5 quarts in 6,000 miles. Not good. I have used other brands since it was new and never experienced an oil change like this one. Going back the the #1 selling synthetic oil after this one time try of QS. I know 6,000 is a little long but others claim their synthetics are good for as much as 15k. I normally try to change mine at 5k or less.
