The loss of a cam shaft in my 1990 Jeep engine forced me to realize that the government regulators have forced the oil manufactures to remove zinc from their lubricating oils. "Yeah BIG Government", NOT!

When searching for an oil or additive that will protect my older engines properly, there are a few racing oil options and this additive to choose from. So far, my Jeep and small engines on the yard care equipment have been running well with this added to the newer zinc free oils.

I'm still trying to find out if there are any incompatibility problems between the zinc compound in this product and the calcium compound used in the oils forced on us by bureaucrats...

It says it is what I need to keep my 1951 Mercury running right. A supplement to the motor oil to provide lubrication to a 62 year old engine who's recommended oil is no longer manufactured. Who really knows if this is doing the job. Time will tell.

I could not give this tool 5 stars because it does not work as is, and I could not give it one star because it is well built (as in sturdy). Read on for my solution to getting this tool to work. First off the one I received is not quite the one in the picture. The ends of the arms in the picture show more of a sand paper type traction, while the one I received just had deep groves on the arms (nor is it all silver for what that is worth). That being said I do not think it would matter because the real issue is with the angle of the arms in relation to the thing they are trying to grip which of course is the oil filter. Now perhaps if I was sent the one in the picture it would have worked out of the box, but the one I received has arms that are not at a right angle as I think they should be. The arms are slightly pointed inward which means the only part of the arm that makes contact with the oil filter is the tip (the very end of each arm) and not the sides of the arms where the traction is as was originally intended. Since only the tips make contact it slips when trying to turn the filter. So to close the gap (dead space) between the filter and the sides of the arms I put some insulation tape on the arms (because it is thick and spongy) and then covered that with 3M outdoor tread tape (used on ladders or places you need traction). Sealed it off with my glue gun and now I have a functional tool that will actually grip the oil filter and turn it, because the tread tape now makes contact with the oil filter instead of having dead space. I also believe you could buy some of the self hardening putty (found in the automotive section) put that on the arms to close the dead space/gap and then cover that with the tread tape. I know it sounds like a lot of work to get it to become a functional tool, but it is well built and I think would last a life time. However, the manufacturer needs better quality control so that the end product matches the specs of the original because I can not see them designing the tool to only grip the filter with the tips of each arm since they put traction marks further up then just on the tips of each arm. Also this tool is only for removing not putting the oil filter on in case that is not obvious.

Their are other cheaper but none better. Well designed easy to use and good materials. I will be getting a few more for friends.

This is the best filter wrench of this type.It fits a wide range of filters.It does not install filters like some others but it will remove them when the others will not.

Been using Mobile 1 20-50 V-Twin Synthetic for Harley FLHP police model Road King. Always seem to run hot with clacking/pre ignition sound when leaving red lights,escorts etc. I had pretty much accepted that as normal operation. After switching to Castrol RS V-Twin 4T 20-50 synthetic, the engine is alot quieter with smoother shifts. I almost forgot about that clacking sound until I took my partners bike to him and heard the familiar clacking sound. Ive had several oil changes with Mobile 1, but since the switch to this Castrol product I wont be going back..

I switched from Royal Purple to this oil after having wonderfull experience with Castrol High Milage oil in my 1962 MG Midget Mk1. I have a 2009 Harley Davisdon FXCWC Rocker that is quite as a church mouse beforenI tried this oil. I put this oil in the engine and primary along with a new filter. The engine was very noisy front the time I started it and it sounds like the valves were driven by a chain drive. I drained everything and put the Royal Purple 20W-50 oil back in and it was nice and quite again.

What can I say about oil? It's slippery and yellow-ish and it's working good so far in my motor. Unless it suddenly siezes up or something, I won't really ever know how GOOD it was or wasn't. I wouldn't buy the absolute cheapest junk I found, but for a heavy v-twin oil, this seems to have all the certifications and the price was right.

What a clown act. They sent the wrong filters, as in the wrong part number and they looked nothing like the items ordered.

So, I printed the label, followed the instructions, and sent them back.

They said they never received them back and were going to charge me. I corrected them and said I had.

That was weeks ago. Now they've charged my card for not returning them.

I'm contacting my bank Monday to stop this.

To review, THEY sent the wrong part. THEY weren't aware of the items being returned to their store. THEY are unresponsive to me. THEY have charged me for items I don't have.

EDIT: Powersport Superstore supplied the (wrong) filters, and not Cycle Stash. Great, Amazon has changed vendors so now I can't criticize the offender. Ultimately, it's Amazon's responsibilty so I suggest not buying filters from them.
