I have been a user of the Bell X-Tra Lube oil additive in many of my automobiles over the past 20 plus years. One of the main benefits from using the product is that it helps protect the lubrication system by reducing friction, heat and wear. I have experienced this benefit first hand. For example, at different times over the years I've had a radiator or water pump problem causing all the water to drain out and causing the engine to overheat. I believe the X-Tra Lube has really protected the engine in extremes conditions such as this. I've also reduced fuel cost & had greater engine performance

I bought this filter because of the nut built on to the bottom. It makes changing my BMW's filter so much easier than not having the nut, or having a special filter adapter on my socket wrench. I have no oil analysis lab at my house, so I'm not sure if the actual filter is any better than any others, but the convenience of this K&N filter is worth it alone, and the price was less than OEM. I'll continue to buy these for my bike!

This oil filer arrived quickly and was as described. The original BMW part does not have the nut on the bottom of the filter and is a royal pain in the butt to remove if you don't have the BMW oil filter filter wrench ($$$). I will only install the K&N filter as long as I own my BMW k1200LT.

Best Deals for K&N KN-163 BMW High Performance Oil Filter

I installed this filter on my K1200GT. Did replace the oil after 5500 miles (used AMSOIL 10W40). I have never seen oil coming out of an engine after 5500 miles being so clean. I attribute this to the filter. Will keep using KN163. Thanks K&N.

10 micron vs. 25, when it comes to filtration, what more do you need to know. BMW stock filters are paper and sometimes disintegrate. Not the KN, finer and synthetic, excellent.

Came shrink sealed and without paper labels stuck on the filter shell. No need for a special filter wrench, this has a hex drive device on it's end which accepts a standard 6/12 point socket for proper torquing. Very nice!

After a little reading I found this oil to be the best. It is a little pricey compared to others out there, but it is an actual full synthetic. I would also recommend this oil if you have a turbo car, it is easier on the turbo.

After some extended research, I came to the conclusion that this Benicia, CA -based oil is the only synthetic oil that is available for purchasing in the US of A. Almost all other "synthetic" oil, even the German-made Pentosin, is actually dino oil that's claimed to be synthetic due to no regulation.

Very nice that it is now available for purchasing directly from Amazon.com for a competitive price, ships fast!

Runs great in a Volkswagen Jetta 2.5L petrol engine.
