I am a retired auto mechanic who still performs a lot of my own work. Easiest maintenance any owner can perform is an oil change. I use synthetic oil and premium filters and have always replaced the "crush" drain plug washer. I have used several different styles of washers: a stainless steel washer that is similar to spark plug washers, nylon washers, fiber washers and aluminum washers. These washers appear to be the aluminum style with a coating on each side that helps seal the drain plug and oil pan surfaces. I feel these are inexpensive insurance against drain plug leaks and replace the washer on every oil change.Tuesday, October 14, 2014
Discount Genuine Toyota - Oil Drain Plug Gaskets (QTY10) - 90430-12031
I bought a pack of these on ebay for seven dollars only because the Toyota Service Manual says not to reuse the gasket each time the oil is changed, so far so good on the first one. These gaskets have an aluminum center about 1/16" thick with a thin layer of rubber on each side. These are 12mm ID x 21mm OD and will fit numerous different models.

Cheap Red Line 5W30 Synthetic Oil - 1 Quart, Pack of 12
I have owned two Subaru WRX's over the past five years and have used many different types of synthetic oils in them.
I notice that Redline's oil seems to degrade and burn-off less than other oils...mainly Mobil1. I would recommend this oil to people who drive turbo cars aggressively. Not all synthetics are made to the same quality and it seems like Redline is one of the better brands. I also recommend their gear oil for transmissions and differentials.
I wasn't expecting to tell much difference after just 1000km on the odometer, but the difference was there! Time will tell how well those additives work, but I have faith in Redline.

Decided on Redline after much research on the best "ester based" synthetic oil. This is my 5th oil change to date with Redline 5W30 going about 5200 miles between. In the past using dino oil and other synthetics I would notice a huge difference in smoothness both at running speed and idle immediately after a fresh oil change only to wane midway through oil change cycle. Not with this oil, engine is just as smooth even at the back end of 5200 miles. Probably could go a couple of thousand more on this oil. It would be interesting to send in a used sample for testing just to see how much accumulated particles from wear are there. I trust this oil to wait a bit longer for my next oil change if need be, the protection is there.Best Deals for Red Line 5W30 Synthetic Oil - 1 Quart, Pack of 12
After reading all the information regarding oil, zddp additives, (lack of) API certification, I bought 24 quarts for my brand new Honda Euro (Acura TSX). I won't be fooled by the API sticker, as it does not signify or indicate the quality of the oil.I wasn't expecting to tell much difference after just 1000km on the odometer, but the difference was there! Time will tell how well those additives work, but I have faith in Redline.

Notable difference in how smooth the engine runs. Oil should last for 7500mi as well (according to website), so you can get that extra protection for your engine and save some money too. Great buy!Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Red Line 5W30 Synthetic Oil - 1 Quart, Pack of 12
Had the ticking noise common in the later VQ35 engines. The very expensive blend Nissan was known to solve this but I gave this a try and it worked for slightly less money and benefit of full synthetic formula.Sunday, October 12, 2014

I recently entered into the world of outboard motors. During this journey I found out what fogging oil was. I used it in the motor as well as other small engines I have around the house. All of the equipment started with one or two pulls after winter storage. I attribute this to both the Stabil fuel stabilizer, and fogging oil I use to winterize them as well as the ethanol treatment I use when I fill them with fuel as a maintenance step. Great products, my equipment has never run better.Friday, October 10, 2014
Discount STA-BIL 22001 Fogging Oil - 12 av. oz.
The instructions for my new snowblower call for adding 1oz of oil through the spark plug hole to store it for the winter. I'm not sure what they were thinking because the spark plug hole is surrounded by heat shields and the muffler. That's where the beauty of fogging oil comes in. With the straw, I can get it close to the hole without taking the thing apart. A quick squirt or two, a pull on the rope to get it evened out, and I'm safe until next winter. I plan on using this in all of my lawn equipment in the future before I store it.
I'm happy Amazon had it. I HATE waiting in line at the auto parts stores to just buy a small item like this.
The directions state to remove you spark plugs, spray in each hole for about 3 seconds, reinstall plugs. To my understanding the fogging oil just coats the walls of your engine to protect from moisture.
using the fogging oil through the intake is not enough to PROPERLY fog your engine.

I used this to winterwize my 2-stroke jetski. I take the plugs out and spray in the cylinders for a few seconds, put the plugs back in and leave it. When I pulled the jetski out of storage everything was great. This stuff will cause some smoke when you start up at first, but it's no big deal and is done after a few minutes. It's much cheaper to winterize yourself so don't be afraid to get into these things.Best Deals for STA-BIL 22001 Fogging Oil - 12 av. oz.

When you use this fogging oil first spray into directly into intake (take off filter if necessary)with the engine running, this help keeps the intake and carburetor clean. then after 10 seconds shutdown engine then take spark plugs out then use attachment and spray (for 3 seconds) into each cylinder via sparkplug hole. you can then optionally pull the cord slowly or run the engine with disconnected spark plugs if you have electric start, this allows the engine to cycle the fogging oil on the piston and cyclinder. You can even run the engine briefly like for 2 seconds and the engine will throw out thick plumes of white smoke if you are looking to see the fog.using the fogging oil through the intake is not enough to PROPERLY fog your engine.

I have to admit, I am a bit of a geek, often "over-analyzing" minor things like what my foot-pounds of torque are at various RPM stages and comparing my power band arc to other similar makes and models. That said i did some analysis into what oil would do well with my car. I wanted to make sure that I didn't choose just "any" synthetic oil, after all there are still different levels of quality when it comes to Synthetic oils as well. In my opinion the oil and filter you put in your car is one of the single most important things any car owner can do. Review of CRC SL2531 Air Tool Oil, 15 Fl Oz
I own about 25 air tools and use them on my job every day as a tool and diemaker, over the last 22 years I have tried almost every air tool oil out there, the CRC sta-lube air tool oil is the absolute best, I use one little shot of oil and the grinder runs faster, smoother, and with more power, with most oils, after grinding for a short time the tool would get warm and start to bog down, with CRC oil, I have ground for hours and the grinder actually stays cool, I have even had frost on the outside of the grinder when its 95'F in the shop!!! THIS STUFF IS AMAZING !!!
As far as the quality, it's oil. It works, it hasn't dried/gunked up on me, so it's perfectly fine.
