I've got a lot of cars most of them with turbos and it's incredibly helpful to not have to buy different types of oil for each of them. Motul's 8100 X-cess is one of the highest quality synthetic oils you can buy, satisfying many stringent VW/Audi and Mercedes Benz specifications for durability and extended changes including many diesel specs. I bought it specifically for my Audi turbo, but I use it in pretty much everything I own save my old GM 6.5l diesel, which gets Motul's 6100 semi-synthetic. I buy both the 8100 and 6100 from Amazon since their prices are as good as anywhere, and at the end of the day I get oils that are at least as good (and probably better) than more commonly available Mobil 1, etc. at a modest but not unappreciated savings.

I drive my wrx in the city and also do some auto x and track days. This stuff doesn't appear to burn off between oil changes and is great for use all year around. I heard rotella T6 is cheaper and works as well but I'm an oil snob.

This is the best oil I've ever used. I'm running it in my 20 year old Mercedes Turbo Diesel after trying several other oils. With every other oil I've used (Mobil 1, Rotella T-6, Pentosin, etc.) in the car in the past year and a half I have had a sticky lifter that would become vocal every now and then at idle. Since switching to the Motul I have not heard a peep. Plus, the engine is quieter in general. Many people say it's a waste to use this oil on an old Mercedes and that there's no benefit, but I can assure you that this oil just might be magical. Really.

Honest reviews on Motul 007250 8100 X-cess 5W-40 Synthetic Gasoline and Diesel Engine

If you are looking at this oil, you likely own a Volksagen, Audi, Mercedes, or BMW. German auto manufacturers are particular about their oils and Motul is certified by all of them. Unlike American "Synthetic" oils, this is 100% synthetic and not a blend. Which means better consistency and lubrication for your engine. This was my first oil change in my recently acquired New Beetle 1.8 turbo and it has certainly brought a little extra to my bug over the previous conventional 10w-30.

The price is worth it and it can safely extend your oil change intervals to 5000, and in some cases, 7500 miles.

I run it in my 996 since it's not only Porsche recommended, but recommended by LN Engineering due to Motul not lowering their ZDDP levels. The top opens up with a funnel, which is great. The only reason the oil doesn't have a fifth star is the $15 increased price compared to Mobil 1, likely due to a lack of American distribution. Still, oil changes only happen every 5,000 miles, so if I could give 4 1/2 stars, I would.

A good oil will just work. It will lubricate and protect. Most oil manufacturers create various grades of oils using different bases and techniques and they produce products that will do the job.

A fantastic oil will go beyond and Royal Purple does exactly that.

I am not an expert but I do know a thing or two about automotive mechanics. The area of lubrication fascinates me and from what I see on the internet, it fascinates many others as well. This is delightful as I was beginning to think that I was a freak! Perhaps I am and perhaps all of us are. Is it so bad to want what's best for your ki.......cars? Your cars! Yeah that's it, yeaaaah. Seee.

After building a supercharged vehicle, I became obsessed with making sure it was running in top shape. It was at the time, my only means of transportation. I started using Mobil 1 synthetic right away and for years, there was no problem. Mobil 1 is a perfect example of a good oil. It did it's job. I've always known about these so-called "high performance" engine oils out there such as Redline, Motul, AMSoil and Royal Purple. I figured that they were all just gimmicks because really, oil is oil right? Well I was wrong.

While shopping in Walmart, I noticed that they had cases of Royal Purple 10w30 for sale. I was there to pick up a case of Mobil 1 but the royal purple was there and it was only a few dollars more expensive. I figured, "why the hell not?". I brought it home and the next day, I changed my car's oil from Mobil 1 to Royal Purple. Now I forgot to mention that my oil changes, which I obviously do myself, happened every 3000-5000 miles and that I change the filter, every time. You can never be too careful with a forced induction car that wasn't meant to be forced to begin with.

Well when I started her up, I IMMEDIATELY noticed that there was a difference. What I noticed was quiet! Then I noticed how smooth the engine was running. It was just plain old special. After warming up I took her for a spin because that's what we do when we try new oils :). The butt-dyno was definitely telling me that the car was faster. She was definitely running stronger and smoother.

A few months ago, I decided to go back to Mobil 1 due to their formula changing (so I read). I wanted to give it another shot. After all was said and done, I went from a "fantastic oil" (Royal Purple) back to a "good oil" (Mobil 1)

Even though I knew I did not need to do it, I quickly swapped it out for some fresh new Purple :)

I tried using it in my little CRF150RB dirt bike but I didn't notice any differences. That bike is like a little bat outta hell. It does however, make a nice difference in my scooter. It is again, smoother, quieter and more powerful and with a scooter, every little bit helps.

In conclusion, in my personal experience and opinion, Royal Purple is just far beyond anything else that I've used.

Info:

Car 10w30:

Mobil 1 Good

Royal Purple Fantastic

Dirt Bike 15w40-20w50

AMSOil Too happy to care

Motul Having too much fun to give a rip

Royal Purple Noticeable gains in yeeehawww but not with oil

Scooter: 10w30-10w40

Mobil 1 Noticeable gain in speed, lower temperatures, and longer viscosity life over petroleum-based oil

Motul semi Similar to Mobil 1

Motul ester Similar to Mobil 1

Motul double Slower more sluggish at first but once oil is HOT, performs exceptionally better than Motul or Mobil 1

Royal Purple Performs similar to Motul double ester but seems to keep viscosity longer and has a quicker "warm-up"

AMSOil AMSOil is also a fantastic oil however, it is in my opinion, slightly less than Royal Purple. It does the job well and keeps it's viscosity for a long time but it does so at a higher cost.

I hope this helps!

It was mentioned to me by a friend that he used Royal Purple in his rigs, and thought I would try it out. I am glad I did. My Suzuki has 97,000 miles on the motor and it has never, I really mean never run so smooth. We get a steady mile and a half more in gas milage. I am going to change my Tahoe and my GMC over when it is time.

I used Mobil 1 in my engines for over 10 years and this was a really good oil. A friend put me on to Royal Purple and at first I though it would not be that much different as I've tried Amsoil and Redline before and wasn't really impressed and ended up going back to Mobil 1. However, the RP was a different story. I though it was just me and the fact that it was a new oil but my engine became quieter and engine temp went down. I also noticed an increase in fuel economy by 2.5 3 mpg on average. Not only that but the engine spins up much more quickly and feels really free and eager which is great for an engine with an 8000 rpm red line. I was really surprised cause I wasn't expecting much of a difference.

Just to make sure I put RP in another vehicle and again I felt the difference. I then secretly switched the oil in my girlfriend's car to RP and waited to see what she would say. She asked me what I did to her engine cause her car was driving better than when it was new.

From all the reviews on Amazon and tests I've read online RP really seems to be a different oil. It really got me interested and the same friend who put me on to it works for an oil company he says one day he was walking through the machine shop and saw barrels of RP oil. Apparently it's the only oil they use on their high compression turbines and pumps.

I guess there is something different about RP's Synerlec additive and it has made me a believer.

Very happy that I found K&N filters at a great price through Amazon. This item is very expensive in local parts stores. I was able to get K&N quality at a great price!

I have been pleased with K&N before, mainly because of their nice reusable, cleanable air filters. So this oil filter seems to be as good as any. It was much smaller than my previous filter. I changed my oil about 5,000 miles ago and haven't had any issues with this filter. I'll buy another for my next oil change.

I have now switched over 3 motorcycles, 3 cars and 1 truck to K&N oil filters. The ones for the motorcycles work well with the OEM Kawasaki oil that I also wrote a review on and the ones for the 4 wheel vehicles will be using a popular brand of synthetic oil in conjunction with K&N.

I used to buy oil by the gallon jug at Walmart. It was a hassle to lug it home. This is a much better deal. They ship it to your shop and it is cheaper.

I am amazed at all this. I will now by buying my oil from Amazon. This place rocks.

Over the past year I have been working to get my 1979 Arctic Cat El Tigre 6000 into great running condition. I was tired of using the cheap two cycle oil from my local farm and home shop, so I decided to try this. I was very impressed! This snowmobile has been in my family since it was new, and it was always something of a smoker. With this oil, it runs nearly smokeless. There were no amazing performance increases, but I did notice that it seemed to run smoother and sound a little better. Although it is more expensive than your typical oil, I would highly recommend it for anyone who is serious about snowmobiling and keeping their snowmobile in great shape.
